What’s wrong with my property?
Surface Feeding Insects
With strength in numbers and voracious appetites, surface feeding insects can do serious damage to your lawn. They exist at or above the soil line.
Patches of matted, silver-gray or bleached-white turf signal snow mold. It often shows up in the spring after the ground thaws and new snow falls.
There are several types of white grubs that feed on the roots of lawn grasses. All of them can cause severe damage if left untreated.
The best defense against weeds is a strong lawn that won’t allow these unwanted plants to break through. When weeds do appear, however, understanding the way they live and grow helps us.
Low Soil PH
Soil testing also measures soil pH, humic matter and exchangeable acidity. Through these analyses, it’s possible to determine whether or not lime is needed and, if so, how.
Burrows dug along your home, garage or shed; tubular runways compacted within the tall grass; quarter-sized, circular holes “appearing” from within the insulation; random “abrasions” discovered on a wire-or-two, all of these could be quite telling.
An otherwise unnoticeable (but rapidly increasing) sawdust pile, an unexpected spike in flying ants in and around your home or a nest of black ants discovered after removing a leaking door or window would be sure signs.
The presence of cockroaches is often detected by the fecal matter they deposit.
